PICKPOCKET (or all the vintage jewels that fit into your pocket).

"Pickpocket" is a 1959 masterpiece by French director Robert Bresson. Sober and elegant, there is something about this movie that captures the essence of the late-fifties European style. The same essence that emanates from The Vintage Dilemma's jewelries.

In the movie, the young uruguayan, non-professional actor Martin La Salle, plays Michel, who integrates a band of professional pickpockets who work in crowded public spaces.

Bresson gives us no reason to think that Michel is poor and steals out of real need. It seems that he just wants a better, more beautiful life.

At his mother's house, Michel meets Jeanne, an attractive girl plaid by Marika Green (yes, Eva Green's aunt). Jeanne has a relationship with one of Michel's friends. Michel shows no feelings for her or for anyone else. He is, it seems, a cold heart.

Well, Michel may be a cold heart, but from the beautiful pieces he chooses to steal all along the movie, you can see that he has a really good taste!

At the end of the movie, Jeanne visits Michel in prison and he realizes that he is in love with her. In a way, at that moment he understands that he is more human than he himself thought.
